For the smaller garden size and weight are the important issues. The lawnmower must light enough to easily handle and of a size to manoeuvre around the garden.
Most smaller lawnmowers are of the push variety, certainly without the self-propulsion mechanism they are generally cheaper as well. Some newer mowers are self-propelled and this may prove useful for small gardens on an incline.
